Barbeque quality is hit or miss around Lexington. The only great BBQ I’ve consumed lately is City BBQ, but after today they have a serious contender, in my humble opinion. DoubleH BBQ has apparently been around since 2012 per their website. It is truly amazing we have never eaten here before this day, because we go out to eat A LOT.
My plate, no frills styrofoam, consisted of the half brisket sandwich, corn pudding, and the macaroni and cheese. Every item on my plate disappeard happily into my now full belly. My late lunch/early dinner companion had the pulled pork half sandwich, cole slaw, and french fries. The slaw was great, pork was excellent, but the fries, not so exciting. Run of the mill. (But c’mon, they’re FRIES. Not the star of the plate ever.) Let’s however, talk about that corn pudding. My favorite thing. Literally, the best corn pudding I have ever eaten.
The prices, so cheap! The place, like the styrofoam plate, is no frills, just good barbeque. Our bill was less than twenty bucks for two, including the drink. No beer or booze at this restaurant, but that was just fine.
Next to try from this place are the wings. Smoked, then fried. Looking forward to eating my weight in some smoked and fried chicken wings.
These little hole in the wall places are my favorite, and they are all over this town I love so much. Now DoubleH BBQ tops my list of must eat places.
