Since this is Thirsty Thursday I have a confession to make. I have an addiction. An addiction to Mt. Dew. I know, probably wasn’t what you were expecting to hear me confess, but nonetheless I have a serious addiction.
I have tried numerous times to give up the Dew. I have tried switching to Diet Mt. Dew but its just not the same. Plus diet drinks give me headaches. I have tried to quit cold turkey and always fall off the wagon.
One time, back during the days of the Atkins diet craze, I had the brilliant idea to give up caffeine and carbs all at the same time. It was not a pretty sight. I remember going to pay my electric bill and I had to void 2 checks before I finally was able to write the check correctly the third time. I explained to the lady at the window that I had been without carbs and caffeine for four days so my brain wasn’t functioning like it should. She probably was thinking I was just crazy! It was at that point I realized that me without caffeine was not a good idea.
Today I was driving across town to run some errands. It was around noon and I had not had my daily caffeine boost. I was thinking, I will just run thru a drive thru and grab some lunch while I’m out. In my head I was mentally going thru the local fast food options and what struck me as funny wasn’t that I was thinking about what I was in the mood to eat, no, I was thinking about who had the best Mt. Dew!
Mello Yello just isn’t the same. For all you non Mt. Dew drinkers you just wouldn’t understand, but take my word, its just not the same. I needed to find someplace that served Pepsi products. That ruled out many of the fast food options. Well pretty much that ruled out everything except Taco Bell. Thank goodness for Taco Bell, their chicken burritos, and Mt. Dew.
I didn’t even bother to add “give up Mt. Dew” to my New Year’s resolutions this year. I mean, really, who am I kidding anyways. Me and Mt. Dew go together like peanut butter and jelly, separating us would just be….bad.
*Disclaimer: Just so you know I do try to limit myself to one Mt. Dew per day. I know they are just empty calories but empty calories or not I love Mt. Dew.*
