Ten Pounds Can Creep Up on You!
I wrote a few days ago how it had been a year since the awful terrible thing had happened to me- that I was cheated on and my world was turned upside down. I’ve made a lot of positive changes since then, many things have changed. One of those changed is not so positive. Recently, I have gained ten pounds.
I’m short. It’s apparent I’ve gained the weight.
Since my life has improved in so many areas, it’s time to take my body back. Once upon a time I was a marathon runner. A crossfitter. A hard core Paleo follower. My how things change. I fell off the “taking care of me” wagon.
Those pounds crept on as the months passed. One day I cheated on my diet by eating french fries or potato tots at work, then the next day eating a big piece of chocolate cake or ice cream, the next day two fattening calorie packed non Paleo meals in one day… I suppose I can see here that cheating once makes the next time you cheat easier, and a small cheat can turn Ito a big cheat before you know it, and it becomes more and more normal to cheat, until it doesn’t even feel like you’re doing anything wrong anymore.
This weekend I once a week cooked. The whole buying food at work thing has been bad for my health and my wallet. I’m a fraud. But I’m back to my Paleo ways now.
I can honestly say I feel better when I am eating Paleo. It’s natural. There will always be naysayers and pushers of other food lifestyles. To each their own. I know what works for me and what does not. Paleo works for me. I fell off the wagon and gained ten pounds. Yuck.
I also want to get back on the exercise bandwagon. I used to be a runner. Operative words: “used to be.” Not anymore. When my ex and I broke up, he accused me of lying about a lot of things…having been a serious runner was one of those! (I mean, you can google someone’s name and their race results will show up.) Obviously these days I don’t look like I *used to* run. I want to get back to it.
The Pilates Power Gym sits in my living room as well as p90X. My poor little wrist is injured so the Pilates has to wait until after I have surgery (Wah!) but the p90X cardio can be on the menu, as well as any other cardio that does not involve wrist rotation.
Has anyone else ever fallen off the wagon? Have you woken up one day and realized your belly jiggled, you suddenly had back fat, and your thighs looked way too thick? What was your action plan?
MY recipe this week to jump starting my metabolism:
Eggs every morning- or a Paleo smoothie
Meat at every meal- turkey breasts- they are packed with protein, or some other lean meat.
Lots of veggies- my weekly trip to the farmers market yielded some great veggies for the week.
Berries if my sweet tooth gets the best of me.
