The healthiest I have ever been was when I was living a Paleo lifestyle. No, I’m not talking about swinging a club and hunting for my dinner.
The Paleo diet takes us back to a way of eating before the agricultural revolution. Before farming was the way of life, long before present day fast food McDoubled our waistlines. This “diet” does away with grains, legumes, dairy, processed foods, sugar, and alcohol. It is very doable. I’ve lived it before, and tomorrow, I begin the journey again. I’m ready to *feel* healthy again.
I’m going to start small. Committing to being 100% Paleo 75% of the time. This gives me some room to cheat without feeling guilty about it. Especially when someone brings a cheesecake into work. I lose all self control around desserts.
Paleo food preparation is not as difficult as it sounds. Once you get the hang of using almond or coconut flour, making doughs, breads, and other “normal” foods are quick and easy. Paleo is becoming more mainstream than ever before, so ordering foods and finding them a your local markets is becoming easier.
Mark’s Daily Apple is an excellent source for all thing Paleo. I encourage anyone who is curious about the lifestyle to check the site out.
Just another self-improvement project I have in the works! There will be Paleo recipes along the way and progress reports of my efforts. I know you’re all on the edge of your seats! (Ha ha!)
I will leave you with a recipe, some Paleo food for thought, that I will be making tomorrow night for myself and the kiddos: bacon mashed sweet potatoes. (Bacon is nature’s candy!)
To check out the recipe, check out Urban Paleo Chef.
