Last night I had the pleasure of visiting a new farm-to-table restaurant in my town. The Wrigley Taproom and Brewery in Corbin, Kentucky opened in 2014 and has quickly become a local favorite. One of the key features of The Wrigley, is the 24 craftsman beers on tap, many of which are brewed right here in Kentucky, as well as the locally sourced food that is served to diners. Much of the meat comes from Faulkner Bent Farm where the owner also happens to be one of the owners of The Wrigley Taproom and Brewery.
Stepping into the The Wrigley one of the first things that you will notice is the exposed brick wall with an old advertisement for Wrigley chewing gum.
After entering the restaurant make your way toward the back where the bar is located. Above the bar you will see large chalkboards with that night’s menu items and beer offerings listed. The menu changes depending on the availability of local foods.
I was visiting The Wrigley Taproom and Brewery with a friend and we couldn’t decide what to order so we ordered two entrees which we could share. We ordered the Ole Smokey Burger which is a burger with bacon, cheese, and barbecue sauce and also the Korean Barbecue sandwich which is topped with cole slaw. We paired that with a Banana Bread Ale and a glass of Woodchuck Ale.
After placing our order we were made our way to a table. All of the tables at The Wrigley are built from reclaimed barn wood from Faulkner Bent Farms and the chairs are an eclectic mix of chairs donated by local individuals. Down the center of the dining room is a long farm table and smaller tables line the walls on either side.
We found a table and sipped our drinks while we enjoyed the atmosphere and waited for our food. Our food was quickly brought to our table and we couldn’t wait to taste it! Here is a picture of the Ole Smokey Burger and fries. This burger was delicious and combined cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce on top of a delicious hamburger patty and bun. With that combination how could it not be delicious!
We also ordered the Korean Barbecue sandwich. This pulled pork barbecue sandwich is topped with a delicious cole slaw on a bun that is so soft and buttery it feels like it melts in your mouth.
We were very pleased with our dinner at The Wrigley Taproom and Brewery and will definitely be returning soon. The only problem I will have is deciding what to order the next time I’m there!
