Oreo Balls seem to be a trendy and non-diet friendly treat to make during the holidays. Apologies for the recent non-Paleo and non-Weight Watchers recipes. It’s Christmas time people! Let’s be honest. How many healthy lifestyles fall by the wayside this time of year? My waistline is suffering but I’m enjoying the things that are terrible for my body. I’ll hate the workout time later, but for today, I’ll relish the moment and eat, drink, and be merry.
Due to my Paleo resentment lately, I have revolted against writing and eating Paleo. No idea what is going on. I do this from time to time. Fall off the wagon for several weeks but then get back on. Usually this occurs this time of year.
Today I made the gooey and chocolaty Oreo balls for a divine treat. So easy.
2 Packages Oreo or chocolate sandwich cookies (I bought mine at the dollar tree!)
2 Packages Cream Cheese, room temperature
2 Packages Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a ziplock bag. Crush the cookies until fine. Some chunks left are ok. Get out those frustrations!
Allow the cream cheese to warm to room temperature. This allows the cheese cheese to soften for the next step.
Time to get your hands dirty! Ok, I wear gloves to do this. It’s the nurse in me. Smash the cream cheese and chocolate sandwich cookies together. Mix thoroughly. Form the mixture into balls.
Refrigerate for about 15 minutes. Make sure you lay the balls on wax paper. This will make your life easier. Wax paper is the home chefs friend!
Melt the bags of chocolate over a double boiler. Don’t have one? Easy! Boil water in a pot. Place a bowl over the pot. (Be sure the bowl can be heated. Metal bowls or glass bowls (like Pyrex) work best.) Put one bag of the chocolate in the bowl. Stir occasionally until melted. Place the other bag in the bowl once the chips have melted.
After the chocolate has melted, place toothpicks in the refrigerated Oreo balls and cover them with chocolate. Place the chocolate covered Oreo balls back on the wax paper and allow to set in the refrigerator.
I made these today and fed them to the boyfriend. He loved them! They’re the perfect diet destroyer. Enjoy!
