If you’ve been following us for awhile you know I have been working to lose weight over the past few months. I followed the Weight Watchers plan for awhile and diligently counted points. Then I switched to basically following the plan but not counting points. I knew in my head how many points a lot of the foods that I eat are and I knew if I ate something “bad” then the rest of the day I needed to limit myself to low or zero point foods.
I had hit a plateau and got stuck. So the past couple of weeks I have really been watching what I eat, drinking plenty of water, and increased my exercise. This past Sunday I realized I was 14 pounds away from reaching my first goal that I had set for myself and I was 14 days away from the date I had set to lose that weight by. So 14 pounds in 14 days. I know that only 2-3 pounds a week is recommended for healthy weight loss.
How am I losing the weight? This week I have increased my time at the gym. I have also been eating lots of fruit, vegetables, lean protein like chicken, almonds, and lots of water. I am definitely not starving myself. This morning I weighed myself and I’m down 7 pounds. So I only have 7 more pounds to go in 12 days to reach my goal.
For myself I think a lot of the weight I’ve lost is water weight. I have to carefully watch my sodium intake and occasionally have to take a water pill because I tend to retain fluids. So I know the first few pounds were probably water weight that I was shedding.
If you are trying to lose weight what steps are you taking to reach your goals? We would love to hear from you!
