Easy Vanilla Extract recipe:
One cup of vodka. My mom used vanilla vodka, it worked well.
Three to four vanilla beans, split
Six weeks in a cabinet.
Add split beans and vodka to a mason jar or specialty bottle. Allow to sit in the cabinet for six weeks.
Another recipe for Vanilla Extract
Here is a recipe from Brown Eyed Baker that is easy still, but a bit more involved with cooking the beans and vodka and using more beans. I might try this recipe, because it seems the cooking of the beans might infuse the vodka better and make a stronger vanilla extract.

Vanilla extract in the store is EXPENSIVE for a very small amount. Here’s a tip I am picking up on with all of the Vanilla Extract: if you u a bottle of vodka, use twelve beans.
