In January I decided, rather than setting New Year’s resolutions that I wouldn’t keep, I would choose one word as my “word of the year”. This word was to be the one word that I focused on throughout the year. For 2015 I chose the word “Peace” as my word of the year. You can read more about my word choice here.
Word of the Year
In 2014 I had a lot of turmoil in my life between a rocky marriage, situations at my job and the health of my family members. Was 2015 any better?
For the most part I would say that 2015 was a more peaceful year than 2014.
This past year I again dealt with the illness of a parent as my mother underwent surgery to remove a kidney, due to a cancerous tumor. But honestly, through it all, I really did have a peace about the whole situation. I knew, from the moment that I learned of her diagnosis, that everything would be okay….and it was. The surgery was successful and we learned that the cancer was contained to that kidney, therefore she did not have to go through any other treatments.
My job was much more peaceful this past year. It really is amazing how the absence of one person can totally change the dynamic and mood of a group. Sometimes when an employee is let go it’s the best thing for the group. I will just say my work day is much more peaceful with one person gone….and I’ll just leave it at that!
Have I decided on a word of the year for 2016? Not yet but I’m still thinking about it.
