Do You Know Your Portion Sizes?
One of the biggest pitfalls of dieting is not knowing your portion sizes. Through the years our portions have increased as have our waistlines. This image shows how our portion sizes have changed in the last 20 years.
The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute has a great chart showing the differences in size and calories of certain foods today and 20 years ago. You can view the chart here.
Several years ago when I was a high school teacher I had this poster on my classroom wall. This is an excellent illustration of how the food we are served is much larger than what an actual serving size is.
