My personal healthy living initiative began in December last year. Since the. I haven’t really introduced MANY new things, just trying a handful to see what might work. I began doing Bikram yoga in January, signed up at my local Crossfit box but haven’t had time to go, joined a local organic farm CSA, am participating in a six month Dietbet for weight loss, and last night I tried Oil Pulling and ate Kale for the first time.
Pinterest has been my best friend recently. Almost more so than google. I pinterested Kale recipes and found a few to try on that big bag of Kale I had picked up at Kroger. However, being as rogue as I am in the kitchen, I cooked with reckless abandon.
I decided to steam the Kale using a colander over a pot of boiling water. After t was all wet I salted it a bit, threw about two tablespoons of minced garlic on top, and stirred it around. It only took about ten minutes to steam. I was a little afraid of how it would taste so some spinach was added just to have a familiar green in there. Thinking my daughter wouldn’t eat the Kale, I threw about 1/2 cup grated Parmesan on the greens. We also had two medium eggs cooked on the stovetop in ghee with salsa on top. Our dinner was delicious and my daughter raved about the Kale. Winner winner chicken dinner.
