It’s time to reevaluate my diet. The past few days I have been starving all of the time which has caused me to take a look at what I’m eating and see if anything is missing.
If you have been following us for awhile you know I was diligently following the Weight Watchers plan to lose weight. In the last couple of months I haven’t been quite so diligent with counting points, instead I have been just watching what I eat overall. If I “cheated” and had some chocolate I would balance it out with healthier choices the rest of the day.
I have also started going to the gym on a regular basis. I had first started noticing on the days that I worked out I would be very hungry later on. But lately I have been hungry all the time, even on days I don’t workout.
I know that often dehydration can lead to feelings of hunger but I consume more than the recommended amount of water daily so I didn’t think that was the cause.
I have decided that my constant hunger could be from not eating enough protein. I never have been a big meat eater. I would often rather have a salad over a steak. Often when I go to the cafeteria at work (because I’m slacking and don’t pack a lunch) I will eat something from the salad bar or I will have a baked potato or green beans. That’s a better option than the mystery meat they are serving!
My plan is to increase my protein intake over the next few days and see if that helps. I know there are other options besides meat, for protein, like eggs and beans. So look for some recipes in the next few weeks that are protein based and healthy!
I will let you know how it works.
