Those of you who read regularly know about my quest for living Paleo. It’s not easy, I cheat, I suffer the consequences. Recently I’ve been doing too much research and am afraid my body is slowly being poisoned by lots of different things.
I’m not being paranoid here.
Saccharine. Coffee in the morning, diet coke, splenda…why have I used these things? It’s BAD for me! It’s bad for my baby who I have been breast feeding for eleven months. Bad bad bad.
McDonalds. I buy my coffee and sometimes diet coke here. Sometimes. Ok. More than I should. McDonalds is the devil. It really cannot be real food. I slipped and broke Paleo the other day because I was starving and purchased one of their new wraps. And fries. And a diet coke.
The fries were DISGUSTING. Since sticking (mostly) to Paleo, when cooking potatoes (occasionally) I make “fries” myself. You know, peel, slice, bake. These greasy, dry, nasty small straw like slices of potato were not fries by my standards. Yuck. The wrap- it was also nasty. Then I thought about the diet coke, full of saccharine. What did I do to my body during that “meal?”
I have been obsessing over it for two days.
The other day at work I realized my coffee comes from a “coffee concentrate.” After I observed them changing out the can, I vowed to never purchase the coffee flavored chemical ever again. For four years I’ve been drinking “coffee concentrate.” I had no idea.
Corn- I just don’t go there. What do you feed livestock to make it fat? Corn. It’s sugar on a stalk.
Which brings me to the Monsanto issue. The more I read and research, the more scared I am for my general health, especially with this ObamaCare crap. The GMO’s I’ve put in my body (have you SEEN the photos of the tumor encrusted rats who were fed GMOs? And that is “food grade?”) I could buy at my local farmers market, but do they grow from seeds that are sold by the brands that sell Monsanto seeds?
This is all enough to make my head spin. This is the trouble when money hungry people begin to only care about money money money.
Our food supply suffers, and our bodies are poisoned by the one thing that we think we can control for the sake of our general well being.
I may as well give up today and buy a snickers and an Ale-8 from the vending machine.
