How do you find ideas? This post was inspired by this article I read from Copyblogger. This is relevant because I think about it everyday.
Our blogs are living documents. They are books being written by us piece by piece, and if you really look at a blog, you can get to know its writer in a very intimate way. Here at Two Chics, we blog semi-anonymously. Our photos are posted, and if you really looked you could figure out who we are “in real life,” but writing this way allots us the freedom to say things we just wouldn’t blurt out on our Facebook pages. We sometime share things with you all that we wouldn’t share with our closest friends.
In saying this, I ask again, where do MY ideas come from? Life experiences. My daily comings and goings. Funny things my kids say and do, or maybe things my parents or friends say. Sometimes from stories I hear or recipes I read. Sometimes maybe just musings I have driving up and down the lonely interstate on my commute to work. (And in that case use an app like Dragon to voice record your ideas and transcribe them to your notes when you are at your destination!)
My blogging options are limitless. My time however, is not, but I have a working list of things to write about. I write a title. Then I begin writing a general idea of what I want to convey to our readers. The stories are written, edited, and finally published to our blog. Photos are sometimes added, and then the social media publishing comes into play.
Pick up a magazine. A newspaper. I guarantee you can come up with a story for your blog off every page you see (no plagiarizing! Come up with your own ideas that come from theirs.) Inspiration is everywhere you look!
