Advertising/monetizing this blog is something we are getting started on. So far we have over 400 posts on various topics and we have been in “business” about six months. we have thoroughly enjoyed writing for all of you thus far about our lifestyles, diets, personal lives, and given you how to’s like “how to hire an attorney.” (Update: After writing this post I really am going to write on the topic of personal injury attorney and mesothelioma. It’s related to my line of work in the real world, after all!)
Right now writing is a hobby for both of us. Speaking for myself- it is a release, and a way to teach people and share knowledge. When I write, I hope the writing can in some way touch someone.
I would like to thank all I you who have found us through a search engine and visited. Blog owners can see what search engine terms you’ve used to find our blog. (Hopefully after this post I will see “mesothelioma” or “personal injury attorney” as an engine result!) It’s surprising how many people search for “penis pic” and are sent to us! (I wrote a post a couple months ago about men sending photos of their junk to girls.)
Once you have enough posts, or enough search engine keywords in a post on your blog, traffic will start coming your way. It’s up to you, the writer, at this point to decide whether or not to advertise on your blog. (Fishing for those highly coveted mesothelioma or personal injury attorney ads right now on the site. This is purely an experiment in SEO and Adsense.)
Right now we are using Google Adsense. It generates very minimal cash flow, so little in fact we won’t see a check in the next several months unless our kind readers click on a mesothelioma or personal injury attorney or insurance ad on our page. Apparently Mesothelioma ads, if clicked on in Adsense, generate about 170$ per click. I’ll believe that when I see it.
What you write about in your posts is supposed to generate the kinds of ads that pop up with it. One can tell that I am inviting a Mesothelioma or a personal injury attorney ad to generate by using the keywords several times. This feeds into the very complicated world of search engine optimization, or SEO. If I wanted someone to find this post in a google search who was searching for information on mesothelioma or personal injury attorneys, I would try to use about a 30% keyword saturation. I’ve read this is ideal for SEO, but every “expert” would probably have a different percentage for you. (And do you realize how difficult it is to write mesothelioma or personal injury attorney without actually discussing that topic?)
As I learn more about advertising and monetizing blogs, I will write more. Socialspark is another we are trying to use, but haven’t gotten any offers yet. (Maybe they will want me to write about Mesothelioma or how to find a personal injury attorney? Which I will write about soon because it is pretty prevalent and sort of related to my job in real life.) We shall see what kids of ads pop up next to this post- will the SEO experiment work? Will we see ads for mesothelioma information or personal injury attorneys? Let’s wait and see!
Update: I am by no means making light of mesothelioma cancer. It is a serious disease caused my asbestos and particulate air pollution and is devastating. There are legitimate sites out there, who are not writing to get you to click on the ads. After I wrote this experimental post I googled mesothelioma blogs, and many are about survivors and mesothelioma victims journeys. It is a prevalent disease around coal mines and places that are not well ventilated. If you have been diagnosed with this disease, file a workers compensation claim and make sure if you need an attorney, you find a really good, caring, compassionate one.
