When I moved out of my parent’s house at 18 to go to college I wanted to conquer the world. I planned on being a knock out prosecutor living someplace like Chicago or NYC, a far cry from where I actually ended up living or what I ended up doing career wise. Part of the reason I didn’t land where I wanted was lack of preparation and planning. I didn’t even know how to boil an egg for Pete’s sake!
How to Boil an Egg
To save you this embarrassment, today I will instruct you on how to boil an egg and give you explicit instructions so you do not leave your home without knowing how to perform this basic kitchen skill.
Fist off, get a pot and fill it with cold water. Yes. Cold water. Starting with cold water will decrease the chance for over cooking the eggs. Place the eggs in the cold water, boil for ten minutes, then remove from heat. Leave the eggs in the water for about 20 minutes. This eliminates the green that sometimes develops around the yolk.
Being careful not to burn yourself, remove the eggs from the hot water and place in a cold water bath for 10-15 minutes. After, refrigerate or prepare per your recipe instructions.
That is how you boil an egg!
