Why are the women on home renovation and home buying shows such Diva’s? Please tell me I’m not the only one that has noticed this!
Today I was watching an episode of Buying and Selling on HGTV and I just wanted to punch the homeowner! First, she got her feelings hurt and started to cry when the hosts were showing her all the things that needed to be updated and fixed in her current home, in addition to the pile of chicken and rabbit poop in the corner of her living room! Then she shows up on demo day in a tight skirt and fringed suede boots and sits on the kitchen counter while her husband and the host start the demos. Really? Who does that?
Watching this show today really got me thinking. Why are most of the women on home renovation shows portrayed as such prissy drama queens? Is that a casting requirement of show participants?
Are these women really like that in real life or do they just act that way for the benefit of TV drama?
Personally if I’m going to watch a home renovation show I could do without the drama, pouting and tears that some of these homeowners exhibit. If I wanted to see people act like that I would go watch an episode of Real Housewives of whatever city!
I love HGTV and the DIY Network but I am getting really tired of the drama of some of the participants. If these women were renovating their home without the TV camera’s would they really act like that? It’s enough to make me want to change the channel!
