My name defiantly is not Dooce. But I write a blog. Hi. My name is April. My blogging partner and I have been writing for a tiny bit over a year now, and we appreciate all of you who have been following us! Today I was going over my blogging plans for the next few weeks and recapping posts from the last year realized my posts are very fragmented. You may see my photo but my posts are scattered about in a way that you get bits and pieces of me but never the whole picture. Here’s little synopsis of who I am.
I’m a working mom. By trade I’m a nurse. I used to be an ER nurse, but now I work with well people. Major burnout affected me, due to all the deaths, abuse cases, drug seekers, so I moseyed on to greener pastures. I really love what I do now and am blessed to be in my current position.
Right now I am doing a dietbet for six months. I only have to lose 10% of my. Body weight which is about 14 pounds but my goal is thirty. I want my body back! I used to be a fit mom and distance runner. Now I am getting back into Crossfit and Bikram yoga. I do need to be healthier. I write paleo recipes and am playing the Whole 30 game, although sometimes I am weak and eat a cookie or two, or a Reece cup. They’re my kryptonite. Finding time to workout is a huge problem, but I also know that laziness is a hurdle I need to overcome. I have the ability to work out at home with my P90x and Pilates Power Gym, but I look at those things and pick up my iPad to just start blogging about how badly I need to work out instead of actually doing it.
I am the blogging partner who is single. I have dated every jerk it seems that live in and around my area, but hopefully I’ve found the right one this time. He’s wonderful, kind, smart, and loving. In the past I’ve learned a lot from terrible relationships where I have been walked all over and cheated on, but have two beautiful children to show for all that suffering. Good things come to those who wait! The boyfriend loves my cooking ability and thinks I am a magician in the kitchen. He keeps asking me to teach him to cook, and I think he’s learning. Teach a man to fish…
In my. ” free” time I write and cook. Paleo and whole foods are my favorite. I have a love of thrift shopping and couponing. If you had known me 10 years ago I would have been mortified to walk into a goodwill or pull out a coupon at the grocery. Now it’s a way of life and I love it! It’s more of a hobby and a challenge to see what I can get for my money. Tomorrow in fact, I begin a Dollar Tree challenge (you knew you could use coupons at the Dollar Tree, right?) and Goodwill shopping challenge. I don’t have a goal in mind and don’t even know where these challenges will lead me, I just know there is a better way to save money out there and those two places may be a big key. You never know what you’ll find! I want to revamp my closet but don’t want to spend thousands to do so. My friends and I have found Valentino, Armani, Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade to name a few brands, thrift shopping. Why spend 575$ at Saks for Armani pants I purchased for $12.50? No need for that, ever.
So yes, I love brands, but I teach my children that wearing something from target or Walmart is just as good as something from Armani, to be kind to everyone, and to take up for those who get bullied. I’m trying to raise them into intelligent, responsible, upstanding little people, and am pretty amazed that I think I’m doing an ok job with that.
That’s me in a nutshell! Here’s to keeping with New Year Resolutions and meeting all our goals! Thanks for reading the blog!
