Baked ziti is my signature dish. If I am getting together with friends, this is one of the most requested dishes and it is so easy! It has all of the flavors and cheesy goodness of lasagna but is so much easier! This recipe can easily be increased or decreased depending on the number of people you need to feed.
One of the great things about this Baked Ziti is you can customize it in so many different ways. I prefer to use ground beef but you could use ground turkey or sausage instead. You can also jazz it up with diced onions and bell peppers or make it even cheesier by adding Ricotta cheese too! Serve with a salad and bread and you have an easy meal your friends and family will love.
Easy Peasy Cheesy Baked Ziti
2 lbs ground beef
1 box ziti or penne pasta
16 oz cottage cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 jar spaghetti sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray 9×13 pan with cooking spray or line pan with foil for easier cleanup.
Brown ground beef. Drain.
In a separate pot, prepare pasta according to package directions.
To the pan of browned ground beef, add cottage cheese, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 egg, spaghetti sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Once the pasta is finished and drained, add the ground beef and cheese mixture to the pasta. Mix well.
Pour pasta mixture into your pan or casserole dish. Top with the mozzarella cheese and the remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes, until cheese is golden brown on top.
