Spending money on consumable products constantly wears me down. Because of this I have chosen to shop as much as I can at the Dollar Tree as much as possible this year. For anything and everything.
My Dollar Tree Finds
Pretzels- they certainly aren’t paleo, but I can give a handful to the toddler from time to time and he eats them right up.
Diet Coke 16oz- I was thirsty. Pick your poison and this is my tasty toxin. My vice.)
Hangers, three six packs- I’ll need them! Revamping my closet with finds from GoodWill. I realize there are better deals at big box stores but I was here. Convenience.)
Bleach gallon- why pay $3 for bleach at the grocery store when you can get it for a buck at the Dollar Tree?
Diet Cola 3 liter- going to try to see if it is comparable to diet coke. My vice. (Update- gross, will not be re-purchasing.)
2 Mr. Plumber- the drain is getting slow in my daughter’s bathroom. She has really long hair. Gross I know. (Update- worked like a charm!)
Canned white chicken- I love using canned chicken in some recipes.
Canned pineapple chunks- for a Super Bowl recipe
Diced tomatoes- a large can
Jalapeños- for a Mexican dish for Super Bowl
Canned mandarin oranges- for the kids.
Canned Lima beans- why not.
Canned green beans- why not.
Ramen noodle five pack- For Super Bowl I’m making a Chinese salad. These are cheaper at Kroger but again, convenience.
Pack of elastic hair bands- Pony tails are a way of life for me.
Cheese cracker sandwiches- For the diaper bag. We can’t always be gluten free no matter how hard I try!
Pens (comparable to sharpie pens) The work really well! I’m impressed.
Car USB charger- iPhone 5 so often needs to charge in the car!
Nasal spray- There is a sinus infection on the horizon. No need to not breathe it they make medication for that.
Clips for hair- for yoga, work, I’m in a pony tale all the time.
7 socks, variety (I needed socks for my son and refuse to pay more than I have to for them! A dollar for a three pack was perfect for me!)
Three pack of cereal variety pack- sometimes a shot of gluten in a pinch is ok, and the kiddo really likes these. Not the small three pack, not whole box.)
Ibuprofen- at the rate I’ve been working out lately, my upper traps are sooooo tight and ache all the time. I purchased this ibuprofen last time I was at the Dollar Tree and it worked, so I’m a believer.
7″ scissors- mine keep disappearing to my office, car, purse, I have scissors everywhere.
PEZ pooh- my son wouldn’t put it down, so home with us it went. Not worth the battle.
Colgate toothpaste with breath strips
I spent a total of $37 and some change this visit. That’s it ! The socks put me over my budget. The goal was to spend $30 or less. I need to go back and grab laundry detergent (gasp!) I usually use Gain. However, soap, is soap, is soap. Truly. I’m going to *try* it out! This might be one thing that I cannot go to a cheaper option, but I am going to attempt to use what the Dollar Tree has before I judge. I also need garbage bags because I forgot them. The toddler was having a meltdown in the store and I couldn’t concentrate to remember trash bags!
My next shopping trip will be to GoodWill and to Kroger to grab a couple packs of meat and some milk. The limit is $30 for every store I enter! I’ll utilize self control and coupons to make this all happen. (Update: my goodwill shopping trip only cost $20+tax. Stay tuned for those finds!)
Do any of you shop like a tightwad? Tell me your stories!
