Over at The Thrifty Couple they have different challenges going to help families change their lives. The most interesting I have found thus far was the “Dinner by Ten” challenge.
This does not involve eating dinner by 10pm! Goodness, our lives are so busy that sometimes I hope we can eat by midnight! No, this is all about planning ahead.
Start knowing what will be on your dinner table by 10am. If you work during the day, know by 10pm the night before. This is something I struggle with every day.
Honestly…honestly… I KNOW I should put things out to thaw in the fridge from the freezer. I KNOW I should make my lunch the night before, my daughters lunch, and get the baby’s food together. If I would do all this at night it would save me 20 minutes in the morning, making me less stressed out when I press snooze four times every morning. I KNOW these should be done, yet I never do them. Ground Hog day every day in my house.
We will only change when the pain of change is less than the pain of staying the same. I’m tired of being stressed out, tired, never knowing what we are eating until 7pm when sometimes I just throw my hands up in the air and say, “Chicken Noodle or Tomato?”
I’m up to the challenge. Are you? What is for dinner in my house tomorrow? Breakfast for dinner. Easy. Bacon thawing now. What is for lunch for the family? Better get to that now!
This year is all about changes. “Dinner by Ten” is one very small change I can make to be more prepared every day!
