Clean eating should not be difficult, but it is. Our world is full of GMO laden foods that are easy to obtain, cheap, and huge time savers. The GMO and high fructose corn syrup foods are at stores that are main stream, there is no going out of the way to find a store that sells all organic and the price point is something everyone can afford. That is a shame.
Spring is near. That means buying from local farmers who do not use Monsanto’s Round Up on their crops. I am tired of myself and my family being victimized by corporate greed and being forced to buy products that are not suitable for human consumption in other countries. It is scary. Yes, I went there. I am sick of being worried that my kids are being poisoned by things I purchase at the grocery store to clean the house and feed them. Even when we make good food choices and “eat clean,” we aren’t eating clean because our food was treated before, during, and after being grown in the fields.
Today I recommit to cleaner eating and taking better care of my body. So far this year my New Years Resolutions are being fulfilled. I have lost eight pounds, have consistently gone to yoga weekly (even when sick and struggled, so maybe I should not have gone last week,) and have began researching fermenting. Since spring is right around the corner I’ll be planting some things in an attempt to grow some food items like tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and possibly lettuce. Purchasing produce from local farmers and buying local. I won’t put a bumper sticker on my car but I’m “one of those.” A hunter-gatherer. But of a different caliber.
Curious about Kombucha? Me too. I’m working on a post from the best and most informative sites I can find out there for the care and feeding of SCOBY’s. I’m inspired by the very healthy folks out there who are living GMO-free lives.
I know, I’ve fallen off the wagon multiple times with Paleo, but I keep getting back on. I can’t promise I’ll stay on all the time and won’t give in to a piece of chocolate cake, a doughnut from North Lime Doughnuts (oh you Lexington, KY folks. If you haven’t been there…you have to check it out!) but for the most part Paleo is where it’s at. For the health of my family and myself. We only have one body. And our healthcare is getting more and more expensive.
