Hi, I’m April. Crystal and I started this blog a couple years ago and are shocked at the success we have had. An unbelievable number of views, and people find us through some of the weirdest Google search terms. However, I’m hoping you find this post while searching for something like “weight loss.”
Over the last two years we have blogged about weight loss tips and exercises and healthy eating and living. I’m here to tell you that I’m a personal weight loss failure. The up and down roller coaster has been my story for the last several years. I’ve lived a Paleo lifestyle, am a former Crossfitter, am a former marathon runner, and now I’m a three times a week treadmill warrior at the gym I recently joined. I’m a busy single mom of two, have a wonderful boyfriend I spend time with, work full time hours, own a business and co-author a blog. Needless to say I less than proudly wear the “busy badge.” If the Girl Scouts had a multi-taking patch, I would be the owner. Every time I have tried to slow my life down, disaster has occurred. Chaos is just how I operate best.
So, I cope, but my health and weight suffer. Miraculously my blood pressure is great, but truthfully I’m afraid that long term, with the extra weight I’m carrying, things might not turn out so well. When I say I’m carrying extra weight, it’s about 30-40 pounds. Right now I am 5’2″ and weigh far more than I should, and own ways much Lilly Pulitzer in too-small sizes to stay this heavy much longer. I’ve had it.
One thing I have been doing is Thrive. I’m not going to peddle it here but just let me tell you I think it’s great. I’ve had Isagenix, Visalus, and countless other shake and meal replacement products, and nothing does the job like Thrive. Comment if you’re interested in learning more.
I do go to the gym a few days a week but it just isn’t enough. My calories in versus calories out is apparently of of balance.
I drink a ton of water, perhaps too much.
I hardly ever eat anything enjoyable. This is perhaps the most frustrating thing. If I was eating cookies, cake, delicious sugary foods every day, I could justify the excess blubber that graces my midsection. But guess what? I don’t. It’s very very discouraging.
I’m not quite ready for a “flex Friday” type photo. It would be more of a “flab Friday” one anyway. Right now I’d probably break the Internet with my less than toned torso. So you get a clothed one:
This is a pic of me trying on dresses the other day in a local store. I look wide and although there is the semblance of a waistline, there could be more. There NEEDS to be more. Nope, I didn’t buy this dress, although it was pretty cute. I just felt too heavy.
So join me as I begin, again, another weight loss adventure. This time I’m sharing it with all of you and posting progress on Instagram as well as my personal and the blog Facebook page.
