This past weekend I once a month cooked in hopes it would decrease my spending on food at work and running out to eat. We were guilty of doing that so much, just running to Qudoba for a quick meal because I was too tired to cook after work, commuting, nursing the baby, running, taxiing to dance lessons…it was never ending, and unfortunately my bank account has limits. The once a month cooking had made a huge difference.
Week one of the serious Paleo cooking (four days in actually,) I can tell a difference. My bank statement is usually full of debits in the amount of $3 each morning for breakfast and around five bucks for lunch. This week thus far: a buck here and there for a McDonalds coffee in the mornings. That’s it. So far, I’ve saved $32 dollars this week, saved precious time for playing with my children, and have not been stressed out about what we will eat every night because it is already prepared.
Living the Paleo diet lifestyle is not too easy. The difficult part is coming up with unique recipes and not getting bored. Having them ready in my freezer makes me smile, because it’s no stress for me. Once A Month Mom has been a huge lifesaver for me. At least it has saved my sanity. Now I just need help on cooking day. It’s a BIG job. Not gonna lie!
The Mrs. wrote the other day about how she’s going to start OAMC so her poor hubs doesn’t starve while she works late into the evenings. Hoping to get together with her to OAMC to make both our lives easier. With two in the kitchen maybe things can get done a little quicker!
How are your OAM ventures turning out? Let us know, send pics, tell us how you make it easier on yourselves. Us newbies can sure use the advice!
